#GiveAVax Campaign
- As the global leader in vaccine delivery, UNICEF has been tasked by the COVAX Facility with delivering 2 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines to countries around the globe in the first quarter of 2022.
- More than 40,000 Canadians from across the country have donated to UNICEF’s global vaccination efforts, and community partnerships, including Madiro’s donation, helped build momentum to raise funds needed to help fully vaccinate nearly 4 million people in low-income countries against COVID-19.
Over the last 20 years, UNICEF has helped reach more than 760 million children with life-saving vaccines, preventing more than 13 million deaths. UNICEF has a unique and long-standing history of working with governments, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, and other United Nations (UN) agencies to engage communities, procure and distribute vaccines, keep supplies safe and effective, and help ensure access for even the hardest-to-reach communities.
Given this expertise, UNICEF has been tasked with delivering COVID-19 vaccines to health workers and high-risk populations around the world. Since February 2021, UNICEF and its partners have worked together to ship 427.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to 144 countries, expanded the global cold chain, and supported health system readiness to ensure the safe and effective delivery of vaccines and therapeutics. They has also shipped more than 650 million units of personal protective equipment
and more than 26,000 oxygen concentrators to help combat COVID-19. In addition, UNICEF is playing a lead role in efforts to foster trust in vaccines, delivering vaccine confidence communications, and tracking and addressing misinformation around the world.
